Join us to honor service, heritage, and family. Your participation helps strengthen mentorship, professional development, and community support for Vietnamese American service members, veterans, and their loved ones.

Walk or run alongside VAUSA members, families, Vietnam War Veterans, students, and community partners. Every registration moves our mission forward—from mentoring the next generation to caring for seniors and supporting those still in uniform.

Course Description & Race Day Details

Event: VAUSA Honor Gala 5K Fun Run
Date / Time: Sunday, November 8, 2026 | Race starts promptly at 7:30 AM
Location: Arthur Storey Park (7400 W Sam Houston Pkwy S, Houston, TX)
Check-In Hub: The Artisan Pavilion (located immediately next to the main parking lot off the Beltway 8 feeder road).

🗺️ The Route Blueprint (Out-and-Back Loop)

Our course utilizes a flat, fully paved layout designed to keep our group together while providing a unified, high-energy Start and Finish line right at the main pavilion.

  1. The Start: We will gather and line up right at the edge of the Artisan Pavilion.
  2. The Bayou Extension: From the pavilion, runners head north along the paved trail, exiting the main park basin directly onto the Brays Bayou Connector Trail. Runners will head north for exactly 0.65 miles until reaching our designated military-themed turnaround marker.
  3. The Basin Loop: After turning around and heading south back into the main park grounds, runners will complete one full 1.8-mile counter-clockwise loop around the park’s scenic lake basin, passing over the footbridges.
  4. The Finish: Runners will complete their 3.1 miles right back where they started at the Artisan Pavilion for post-race water, medals, and photos before heading to the Honor Gala events.

👟 Runner Logistics

  • Parking & Bathrooms: Ample free parking and public restrooms are located directly next to the Artisan Pavilion staging area.
  • Course Etiquette: Because this is an intimate community event (30–40 runners), the trail remains open to the public. Please remember to share the path and stay to the right to allow local weekend joggers to pass.
  • Hydration: A water station will be available at the Start/Finish line and at the 1.5-mile mark along the basin loop.
